　　【eNet硅谷动力消息】当地时间本周一，全球最大的计算机服务厂商IBM公司宣布，它将发布代号为DB Express-C的免费版本DB2 数据库。公司采取这一行动的目标是希望它的产品能够吸引更多的软件开发商。

　　IBM公司指出，DB Express-C数据库同样是公司的商业化产品，但它必须在公司限定的硬件范围内才能够运行。这款免费版数据库可以运行 Windowx或 inux操作系统，能够在 32位或64位两个处理器核心的系统上进行配置，或在AMD公司以及英特尔公司的双内核芯片的服务器上使用。它对内存的限制是4GB，但没有限制数据库的大小和用户的数量。

　　IBM公司表示，随着它最大的商务竞争对手甲骨文公司和微软公司采取了类似的行动，IBM公司决定在它的产品阵容中增加免费的数据库版本。去年晚些时候，微软公司推出了SQL 服务器 2005免费版本，甲骨文公司也发布了免费的 10g版本。
