According to news from this site on March 20, Amap officially announced today that the wheelchair navigation function has covered 50 cities across the country.
It is reported that in recent years, with the support and guidance of the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Zhejiang Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation, Amap and Alibaba Charity have expanded the coverage of accessible wheelchair navigation services. So far, it has expanded to the whole country 50 cities; the number of barrier-free route planning services provided has exceeded 51 million times in total.
This site previously reported that in November 2022, Amap launched an accessible wheelchair navigation function specially developed for travel by disabled people and vulnerable groups, with the first batch of pilot projects in three cities: Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. This function is based on the digitization of barrier-free facilities and is equipped with corresponding route planning and navigation strategies. It can avoid steps and steep slopes and prioritize routes with complete facilities.
Last year, Amap and Alibaba Public Welfare cooperated to launch the wheelchair navigation "Love Report" voluntary action, aiming to help people with disabilities travel more conveniently. Users can search for "Love Report" on Amap and upload information about barrier-free facilities and accessible routes around them to provide practical navigation information for people with disabilities. At the same time, Alibaba Philanthropy also launched the "Love Report" volunteer activity on the "3 Hours for Everyone" platform, calling on more people to join the ranks of volunteers and jointly serve the disabled community. The purpose of these actions is to advocate social care and support for people with disabilities, promote the construction of barrier-free facilities, and create a more friendly travel environment for people with disabilities.
On September 1, 2023, the "Barrier-free Environment Construction Law of the People's Republic of China" was officially implemented. The law clearly mentioned: The state encourages map navigation and positioning products to gradually improve the marking of barrier-free facilities and the navigation functions of barrier-free travel routes.
