ASUS recently announced that it has launched a new BIOS version for its Intel 600/700 series motherboards and AMD 600 series motherboards that support DDR5 memory. The update brings new features to these motherboards, allowing them to now support up to 64GB of memory on a single stick.
After the BIOS update, motherboards equipped with 4 DIMM slots are now able to support up to 256GB of memory capacity, while for motherboards with 2 DIMM slots, the maximum memory The capacity has also been increased to 128GB. AM5 platform motherboard users can immediately experience support for this memory upgrade without any BIOS updates.
According to the editor’s understanding, Asus said that they have particularly taken into account the needs of users who use ITX motherboards or intend to use high-frequency DDR5 memory. These users often need to balance high performance with large amounts of memory within limited space. With the release of the latest BIOS, these needs are now met.
ASUS also released a detailed list of motherboard models and corresponding BIOS versions to facilitate users to find and confirm whether their motherboard supports the new memory capacity. Intel 600/700 series motherboards and AMD 600 series motherboards from other major manufacturers on the market currently also basically support a single 24/48GB memory. This change breaks the traditional rule that memory capacity increases by a power of 2, providing users with more flexibility and choices when building high-performance PC systems.
