How to type the plus and minus signs on the keyboard

When we use the computer keyboard every day, we often encounter situations where we need to enter the plus and minus signs. The plus and minus signs are often used in fields such as mathematics and physics to indicate the sign of a numerical value. However, many people don't know how to type positive and negative signs on the keyboard. Below we will introduce several commonly used methods to help you solve this problem.

Method 1: Use the symbol key on the keyboard

On the keyboard, we can find a button called the "symbol key", also called the "plus and minus key" or "minus key" key". This key is usually located directly below the keyboard, to the far right of the numeric keypad, and above the "0" key on the numeric keypad. Use this key to easily enter plus and minus signs.

To enter the positive and negative signs, just hold down the Shift key (no need to hold down when in Caps Lock state) and press the Symbol key at the same time. After holding down the Shift key, press the symbol key again to enter the positive and negative signs on the screen.

Method 2: Use key combinations on the keyboard

In addition to using the symbol keys, we can also use key combinations on the keyboard to enter positive and negative signs. This method is suitable for keyboards without symbol keys or when symbol keys cannot be used.

To enter the positive and negative signs, hold down the Alt key, press the "4" key and the "3" key on the numeric keyboard at the same time, and then release the Alt key. This will allow you to enter positive and negative signs on the screen.

Method 3: Use the special character insertion tool

If there is no symbol key on the keyboard, or it is inconvenient to use key combinations, there is another way to enter the positive and negative signs, and that is to use special characters to insert tool.

In Windows systems, you can open the special character insertion tool by pressing the "Win" key and the "." key (or the "Win" key and the ";" key). In the pop-up dialog box, you can find the plus and minus signs, and copy and paste them to insert them where you need them.

In Mac systems, you can open the special character insertion tool by pressing the "Command" key, the "Control" key and the "Space" key. In the special character panel that pops up, you can find the plus and minus signs and copy and paste them.

By using the special character insertion tool, you can easily enter positive and negative signs even if you don't have a symbol key on your keyboard.

To sum up, we can type positive and negative signs by using the symbol keys, key combinations or special character insertion tools on the keyboard. In the process of daily use of computers, mastering these methods can complete the work more efficiently and avoid wasting time because of not knowing how to enter positive and negative signs. I hope the introduction in this article will be helpful to everyone, allowing us to use the keyboard more easily and complete various operations smoothly.
