When Apple first launched the Vision Pro, users found that they could not reset the device without entering a password to unlock it. This results in users who forget their password being unable to access their device again unless they go to an Apple Store or send the device back to Apple to have it unlocked.
As with Apple's iOS devices, you cannot enter the incorrect password more than once or Vision Pro will be disabled and you will need to wait for a while before entering the password again.
To remove the password on Vision Pro, you need to reset and clear all content on the device. However, the initial launch of the Vision Pro did not offer the option to access reset mode via a button combination. Wiping the Vision Pro can only be done by opening the Settings app, and accessing any app requires a password.
Luckily, Apple quickly realized the inconvenience this situation caused users and released the visionOS 1.0.3 update the same month the device launched, which included an option to Reset the headset.
After installing the update via Settings ➝ General ➝ Software Update, users will be given the option to wipe Vision Pro if the password is rejected a certain number of times. Please note that updating Vision Pro requires being connected to a power source or having sufficient battery power (visionOS will tell you if your battery is too low). After updating to visionOS 1.0.3 or higher, you will need to do the following.
After the erasure process is complete, your Vision Pro will restart and display the Apple logo on the visor. Put the headset back on, and Follow the on-screen instructions to begin setting up visionOS.
