BYD will launch a new entry-level mid-size sedan called Qin L on January 20. According to the application materials, Qin L is located between Qin PLUS and Han, and its market positioning is very clear. The estimated price range is 140,000-150,000 yuan, providing consumers with a new choice. This car will meet consumers' demand for mid-size sedans and is a cost-effective model.
This Qin L was wearing camouflage stickers when it was exposed. These carefully designed stickers made the photographer see that this is a carefully prepared model. Qin L's camouflage style is somewhat similar to Audi, which may indicate some changes in BYD's design philosophy.
According to the editor’s understanding, Qin L has made some innovative adjustments in the appearance design. First of all, it uses a larger air intake grille, and the crossbar above the car logo is also designed in gloss black. The overall style is quite similar to the Song L. In addition, the body length of Qin L has increased compared to Qin PLUS, and is expected to reach 4.8 meters, providing passengers with a more spacious interior space. As for the rear suspension, Qin L is likely to adopt a multi-link independent structure, aiming to improve the vehicle's driving comfort.
Qin L will make a comprehensive upgrade in terms of power. According to online sources, the new car is expected to be equipped with BYD's latest fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system and equipped with a new hybrid-specific chassis code-named "P5". According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Qin L DM-i version will use an engine with a displacement of 1498ml, which is likely to use the same SnapCloud plug-in hybrid-specific 1.5L engine as the Qin PLUS DM-i.
In addition, Qin L will provide two different capacity batteries for consumers to choose from, respectively 10.08kWh and 15.87kWh. The pure electric cruising ranges of these two batteries are 60km and 90km respectively. In terms of fuel consumption, Qin L’s fuel consumption per 100 kilometers (power loss) is 3.8L and 3.98L respectively. Taking into account the 60 kilometers of pure electric cruising range, the price of the entry-level Qin L is expected to be more affordable, with an estimated price of about 120,000 yuan. BYD is facing fierce market competition, and Qin L is expected to become its new sales highlight.
