Technical terms:
Large File Format (PSB)
The Large File Format (PSB) supports files up to 300,000 pixels and allows access to all Photoshop features such as layers, effects, and filters. Currently, PSB format files can mostly only be opened in Photoshop CS because other applications and older versions of Photoshop cannot open PSB format files.
Note: Most other applications, as well as older versions of Photoshop, cannot support files larger than 2 GB.
To be able to save files using the PSB format, you need to enable the "Launch Large File Format (.psb)" option in Preferences. However, there is one exception: even if you do not select the "Launch Large File Format (.psb)" option in Preferences, you can still open existing PSB files, and you can also save files in the PSB format.
PSD format (*.PSD)
Photoshop default format is the only file format that supports all PS image color modes, and also supports network, channel, layer and other functions.
BMP format (*.BMP)
The bitmap format is the most common and versatile image file format and is regarded as a standard format in the WIN system. It supports RGB, indexed color, grayscale, and bitmap color modes, but not the alpha channel.
EPS format (*.EPS)
Supports Lab, CMYK, RGB, Indexed Color, Duotone, Grayscale and Bitmap color modes, but does not support Alpha channel.
EPS format is a common industry standard format that can contain both vector graphics and bitmap graphics. Almost all graphics and page layout programs support this format. Therefore, the EPS format is often used to transfer pictures between applications. , using the characteristics of the EPS format, we can process images in several software, making full use of the strengths of various software to achieve the ideal effect of the image.
EPS format is suitable for print output.
TIF format (*.TIF)
Although this format is large in size, the image quality is good. It supports RGB.CMYK.Index.Lab, bitmap and grayscale color modes, and supports Alpha channel in RGB, CMYK and grayscale color modes. Operation, the compression format is 1-24pit. (1pit=2 to the power of 1=2X2)
The TIF format is a flexible bitmap image format. Almost all formats and almost all desktop scanners can generate TIF images. Therefore, the TIF format is often used to exchange image files between applications and computer platforms. .
Note: PS can store layers, annotations, and transparency in TIF format files.
JPEG format (*.JPG)
The compression ratio of this format can be large or small, and it supports CMYK, RGB and grayscale color modes. However, it does not support the Alpha channel. Images saved in JPG format are compressed at a high rate, and the image files become smaller. But this format is mainly used for image preview and hypertext documents.
GIF format (*.GIF)
Supports indexed colors, graphics and images, but only has a maximum of 256 colors, and does not support Alpha channels. GIF also supports the LZW compression method. The GIF format file is smaller and is conducive to network transmission. It is a commonly used method on the Internet. An image file format. Most of the pictures seen on web pages are in GIF format and JPG format. Compared with JPG format, the advantage of GIF format is that it can save animation effects.
PDF format (*.PDF)
Supports RGB, CMYK, indexed color, grayscale, bitmap and Lab color modes, does not support Alhpa channel, which is used in Adobe Aarobat electronic publishing software,
The PDF format is a flexible, cross-platform, cross-application file format. It can accurately display and save fonts, page layouts, and vector and bitmap graphics, and also includes electronic document search and navigation functions.
Note: 1. How to use the "Save As" command of PS to create a file in PDF format, called a Photoshop PDF file. Photoshop PDF files support all color modes and functions of PS, and also support JPG and zip compression, and can also Contains only a single image.
2. You can also create files in PDF format using applications other than PS (such as Adobe Aarobat and Adobe Illustrator). They are called Generic PDF files. Generic PDF files can contain multiple pages and images, and PS can open them. Two types of PDF files, but when opening Generic PDF files, PS will rasterize the graphics and can only store the images as Photoshop PDF format
