Ele.me denies rumors of acquisition talks with ByteDance

According to a report from Finance Eleven, ByteDance and Alibaba are in contact and negotiating to acquire Ele.me. On December 19 last year, Sina Technology stated that Douyin is currently negotiating with Alibaba to acquire Ele.me, for a price of approximately US$7 billion (note on this site: currently approximately 50.26 billion yuan). In response, Ele.me insiders said: The cooperation between the two parties has been steadily advancing, but the so-called "acquisition" is completely nonsense.

In fact, ByteDance’s Douyin reached a cooperation with Ele.me as early as August 2022. According to the cooperation agreement, Ele.me will use mini programs on Douyin’s open platform to help millions of merchants provide local life services to 600 million daily active users of Douyin, covering services such as content planting, online ordering and instant delivery. This cooperation will further strengthen the local commercialization capabilities of the Douyin platform and provide users with a more convenient consumption experience.
