According to news on December 3, NIO’s official community has recently begun to preview the new “track mode” of the upcoming ET5 model. This mode is named EP mode and is designed to provide drivers with the ultimate driving experience. Claimed to be "extreme driving control, ready to go"
According to reports, EP Mode is named to pay tribute to NIO's first pure electric supercar EP9. In this new mode, ET5 will demonstrate smoother power output, more positive cornering directionality and more flexible steering characteristics. According to official disclosures, compared with the previous "Sport" mode, EP Mode can shorten the lap time on the track by 1.5%
According to the editor's understanding, EP Mode Mode will bring more sensitive acceleration feedback and more direct braking response to the driver, and achieve precise control of each tire's grip by adjusting the torque distribution of the front and rear motors in real time. At the same time, this mode will reduce the intervention of the electronic stability system to release more driving freedom, allowing users to safely control the vehicle's extreme performance.
In addition, EP Mode will also provide an exclusive instrument panel and car-machine interface, as well as customized engine sounds. This mode also adds a "track recording" function, which can automatically record driving data such as speed and G value, providing drivers with a more comprehensive driving experience
Weilai officials said that EP Mode is scheduled to be officially launched in December. The first models to support this mode will be ET5 and ET5T. Since they are positioned as "sports coupes", they will be the first to receive this new feature. As for other models, the product research and development team is continuing to evaluate.
ET5 adopts a dual-motor intelligent four-wheel drive system with a maximum power of 360 kilowatts and a peak torque of 700 Nm. It only takes 4.0 seconds to accelerate from 100 kilometers to 100 kilometers. NIO’s first pure electric supercar EP9 is equipped with four high-performance motors with a maximum output of 1,360 horsepower, a top speed of over 300km/h, and an acceleration time of only 2.7 seconds from 100 kilometers per hour. This supercar has appeared in many games, including "Forza Horizon 5" and "Forza Motorsport"
