Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft Mesh at the 2021 Ignite Developer Conference. In January this year, Microsoft integrated it into the Teams app, allowing users to hold meetings in a virtual space without using a VR headset
IT Home Note: Microsoft Mesh is an Azure-based cloud platform that allows anyone to build immersive, multi-user, cross-platform mixed reality applications
Microsoft Mesh also currently operates as a standalone platform, Nicole Herskowitz, vice president of marketing for Microsoft Teams, told The Verge:
Microsoft Mesh has undergone a very meaningful transformation. It's more like a platform. We've really made a big shift by bringing this into everyday applications like Microsoft Teams and really making the service SaaS so that everyone can access it at work.
We recognize this opportunity inspires the possibility of introducing new technologies into the workplace. We've put a lot of effort into making hybrid meetings more inclusive and productive. However, we also want to make further improvements to ensure employees feel connected wherever they work
