News from this site on October 17, Reuters reported that TSMC said it would not build an advanced chip factory in rural northern Taiwan because local residents protested that they did not want to relocate. TSMC said it would work with the government-run Science Park Authority to evaluate land in Taiwan suitable for building semiconductor factories, but did not mention other possible alternative sites
TSMC is currently building a 2-nanometer chip factory in the southern city of Kaohsiung. Chen Qimai said that Kaohsiung has enough water, electricity and land to build more semiconductor factories.
