How to share contact details with NameDrop: How-to guide for iOS 17
In iOS 17, there is a new AirDrop feature that lets you exchange contact information with someone by touching two iPhones. It's called NameDrop, and here's how it works.
Instead of entering the new person’s number to call or text them, NameDrop allows you to simply place your iPhone near their iPhone to exchange contact information so they have yours Number.
Putting the two devices together will automatically pop up the contact sharing interface. Tapping the popup displays a person's contact information and a poster of their contacts (you can customize and edit your own photos, also new in iOS 17). This screen also includes the option to "Receive Only" or share your own contact information in response.
You can select the phone number and email address you want to share with someone on the other end, and if the person is already in your Contacts app, the contact information will be updated. Additionally, NameDrop works between two iPhones running iOS 17, as well as between an iOS 17 iPhone and an Apple Watch running watchOS 10.
Enable or disable name removal
We're used to using the share sheet to share contacts, but NameDrop makes getting your contacts to someone almost effortless Way. Of course, if you don't like the idea of NameDrop, you can turn it off. Here's how it's done in iOS 17.
- Open the "Settings" app.
- Click to enterGeneral – >Airdrop.
- Turn the switch next to "Group devices together" on or off.
That’s all. Note that disabling this setting will also block the new AirDrop proximity sharing feature.
