IT House News on August 23, Microsoft announced a new design tool in October 2022, called Designer, which uses generative AI technology to provide powerful functions. Designer was launched in public preview in April 2023, and today Microsoft announced that Designer has become a fully integrated feature of the Edge browser and is currently only available in the US market.
Microsoft said in a blog post:
With Designer in Edge, you can create stunning visual designs with just a few clicks in your browser window. On Edge, just find Designer using the icon in the sidebar to get started. Once enabled, enter what you want to create, such as your event theme or title, into the search bar and Designer will generate great visual design options for you to choose from, even including unique images generated using DALL-E technology. You can then choose to save or copy and use on your social media platforms.
IT House noticed that the Microsoft support page stated that although Designer is currently in the public preview stage and is free to use, when it is officially released, some features will require additional payment to use. There's no word yet on when Designer will be available in Edge outside the US.
Microsoft also announced that it has added some new features to the Bing Chat AI chatbot in the Edge browser. Microsoft said:
For example, it can help you stay on task by organizing many open tabs (e.g. "Organize news-related tabs"). You can also use the compose feature in Bing Chat to help you write emails to your professors calmly and confidently. No matter where you are, Bing Chat can help you be more productive.
The latest stable version 116 of the Edge browser is released this week and adds support for Edge for Business.
