According to Taiwan Central News Agency, TSMC has established a 2-nanometer task team, called One Team, and mobilized 800 people to conduct simultaneous trial production and mass production in Hsinchu, Baoshan and Kaohsiung factories in Taiwan

TSMC’s Zhongke 2nm plant was originally scheduled to start construction on August 15, but it has now been confirmed that it will be postponed to next year. Therefore, TSMC decided to invest the Kaohsiung plant directly into the 2nm project

According to currently known information, TSMC plans to build two 12-inch wafer fabs on the old site of the CNPC Kaohsiung Refinery. The first wafer fab will include 7nm and 6nm wafer fabs with a monthly production capacity of 40,000 wafers in the first phase, and the second wafer fab will include 28nm and 22nm wafer fabs with a monthly production capacity of 20,000 wafers in the second phase. If the investment plan is confirmed, the first phase of the fab will be completed in 2024 and mass production will begin in 2025. However, it seems that for various reasons, TSMC is considering participating in the 2nm project, and the specific plan has not yet been determined
