Recently, the "2023 VR & AR Display Optical Technology Summit" hosted by Goertek Optics was held in Qingdao. At the conference, Goertek launched a series of new VR & AR optical display technology solutions, including the VR Pancake module that uses high-performance manufacturing technology and is highly cost-effective, and the world's first AR-HUD PGU module with adjustable color temperature. These technical solutions will help equipped products achieve clearer and better display effects
In the field of VR, the experience quality of VR headsets mainly depends on factors such as immersion, wearing comfort, and optical display effects. VR optical modules using Pancake short-throw folding optical technology are lighter and smaller than traditional solutions, and are more in line with the development trend of lightweight VR headsets. Therefore, it has become the mainstream choice of VR optical display solution in the industry
In order to meet the growing demand for Pancake module performance, Goertek has independently developed the high-performance VR Pancake display module Interstellar C31. This module adopts a folding optical path 2-piece lens design and applies industry-leading curved bonding technology, which effectively reduces ghosting and improves VR display quality. Compared with mainstream LCD Pancake display modules, the Interstellar C31 module has an 85% increase in PPD (pixel density), a 20% increase in MTF (definition), and a 25% reduction in stray light while maintaining FOV 95°. In addition, this module can also be adapted to 4K quality Micro-OLED screens, further improving the display effect
In addition, Goertek also launched a VR Pancake display module called Interstellar P31. This module adopts a three-piece lens solution and adopts the industry's more mature flat film technology and related film materials. While maintaining the cost competitiveness of the module, it also increases the MTF of the module by 15% and the field of view reaches 95°. In addition, this module can also be adapted to 4K quality Micro-OLED screens, which has the advantages of high definition, high color reproduction, and can be mass-produced. Therefore, it is also suitable for various VR scene applications such as business offices, audio-visual entertainment, etc.
In addition to releasing a new generation of VR optical solutions at this summit, Goertek also launched the PGU module PGU4620 Gen2 suitable for automotive AR-HUD. Compared with the previous generation product, PGU4620 Gen2 has an 80% increase in brightness, and combined with the latest DLPC technology, achieves a high refresh rate of 120Hz and a high contrast ratio of 1800:1
In addition, PGU4620 Gen2 also adds a multi-color temperature adjustable function, which can adjust the display color temperature according to various ambient lights of the vehicle and the needs of the driver, to meet the display needs of different user scenarios. The module structure adopts modular design, which can be quickly adjusted and developed according to needs. It can meet the customized needs of different customers while shortening the HUD development cycle and accelerating product launch.
