Facing decline, many joint venture car manufacturers failed to keep up with the rise of vehicle electrification and intelligence in time. Recently, GAC Mitsubishi sent a letter to employees announcing that they will officially withdraw from the Chinese market and transfer the factory to Aian.
According to the editor's understanding, the GAC Mitsubishi factory is located in Changsha, Hunan, and has stopped production for a long time because of poor sales of their new model Outlander. In order for the factory to operate normally, shareholders from both parties need to provide financial support, amounting to 1.884 billion yuan. Today, Mitsubishi is likely to become another multinational brand withdrawing from the Chinese market.
It is reported that Aian has dispatched a project team to officially settle in GAC Mitsubishi, preparing to transform this factory with a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles into its third factory. GAC Aian's third factory, internally codenamed "ACS Project", has begun, and GAC Mitsubishi's production line renovation work has also begun.
Unlike the situation before GAC FCA took over the Guangzhou plant, Aian is expected to be invested by GAC Mitsubishi with 670 million yuan to establish a research and development center. The R&D center will set up facilities such as a modeling laboratory, EMC laboratory, new energy laboratory, comprehensive laboratory, trial production workshop and scientific research building.
With the withdrawal of GAC Mitsubishi, its brands and products will gradually disappear in the fiercely competitive Chinese automobile market. Aian's takeover of the GAC Mitsubishi plant will provide more opportunities for its further expansion in the Chinese market. Currently, competition in China's automobile market is becoming increasingly fierce, and automobile manufacturers must constantly adapt to changes in market demand in order to remain competitive and succeed.
