Yu'ao Bridge, Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge, Qiansimen Bridge... Bridges one after another connect the mountain city of Chongqing, and have also made Chongqing known as the "Bridge Capital". Recently, upstream news reporters learned that the Resilient Transportation Research Center of the Chongqing Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology has developed a new type of special robot that can not only "fly over walls" but also perform inspections on bridges.
The upper part of this amphibious flying robot called negative pressure adsorption is a sealed negative pressure chamber, which houses various components of the aircraft and a remote-controlled walking machine structure.
As a new type of flight delivery platform, it has the capability of short-distance remote control flight and the ability to adsorb to a flat surface under negative pressure and walk remotely. It can be equipped with various sensors to achieve remote control flight or program control in more complex environments. Fly and stick to a predetermined surface to complete functions such as high-precision shooting and positioning, and obtain data in real time.
According to reports, the flying robot currently has a mature prototype that can complete various predetermined tasks and functions, including the initial completion of adsorption and detachment stunts on horizontal top surfaces and vertical walls.
In the next step, test experiments will be conducted on actual bridges to enable it to stably and reliably automate the entire process of manual takeoff, adsorption and crawling, photography and video recording, stable separation, and flight return. At the same time, a UWB system and GPS were built for data fusion and positioning, so as to record the accurate coordinates of each photo taken.
Liu Xingchao, head of the Special Robot R&D Department, said that in addition to being used for bridge construction inspection, this adsorption-type flying robot also has wider applicability.
In modern cities, more and more high-rise buildings, photovoltaic power stations and other buildings and structures are popping up like mushrooms after a rain, which also means that the demand for cleaning and maintenance is gradually increasing.
He said that although there are related products on the market, these traditional robots have low reliability and poor ability to adapt to the outer walls of high-rise buildings with uneven surfaces, so they can only rely on manual cleaning. This new type of adsorption drone can easily adapt to various surface environments and perform efficient cleaning and inspection through technologies such as attitude adjustment system and multi-sensor assisted obstacle crossing function.
The cleaning cost of this special robot is much lower than that of traditional robots. The cost of using traditional robots is generally around 200,000 yuan/square kilometer, while the cost of using this negative pressure adsorption amphibious flying robot is only 45,000 yuan. /km².
The market potential of special robots is very broad, and its three major application areas are building inspection, high-rise exterior wall cleaning and photovoltaic cleaning, Liu Xingchao said. He plans that the product will be further upgraded and improved in the second half of the year, and will be tested in cooperation with customers such as building designers and photovoltaic operators. In the future, it will also provide sales and leasing services to third-party testing agencies, photovoltaic cleaning companies, and high-rise exterior wall cleaning companies. .
