Step 4: Configure Nginx server

Configure the Nginx server to use PHP to handle web requests. This requires that Nginx and PHP must be installed in advance. Nginx configuration files are stored in the directory /etc/nginx in macOS. Open the Nginx configuration file using the following command:

sudo nano /etc/nginx/nginx.conf

In the opened file, add the following code in the server block:

location ~ \.php$ {
    fastcgi_param  SCRIPT_FILENAME   $document_root$fastcgi_script_name;
    fastcgi_param  QUERY_STRING      $query_string;
    fastcgi_param  REQUEST_METHOD    $request_method;
    fastcgi_param  CONTENT_TYPE      $content_type;
    fastcgi_param  CONTENT_LENGTH    $content_length;
    fastcgi_pass   127.0.0.1:9000;
    fastcgi_index  index.php;
    include        fastcgi_params;
}

Save and close the file.
