


Saudi Arabia's first female astronaut joins Ax-2 mission and will conduct scientific experiments with American astronauts
According to news on May 22, the US Space Exploration Technology Company (SpaceX) successfully launched the Axiom on May 21 local time. The "Liberty" Dragon spacecraft of the Space Company's Ax-2 mission astronauts will go to the International Space Station for about 8 days of scientific experiments and commercial activities.
This launch is SpaceX's 35th launch this year, and the core first stage of the "Falcon 9" rocket has been successfully recovered 120 times in a row.
According to ITBEAR Technology Information, Axiom Space is a commercial project of NASA and SpaceX. The Ax-2 mission organized by the company is the second time to send an all-private space team to the International Space Station.
The Ax-2 crew includes 4 astronauts: mission specialist Rayyanah Barnawi, flight crew member John Shoffner, commander Peggy Whitson and staff expert Ali Alqarni. This includes two American astronauts and two Saudi astronauts, and Barnawi will be the first female astronaut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi astronaut Ali Alkarni is a Saudi Air Force fighter pilot, while Rayyana al-Barnawi is a cancer researcher.
The crew members of this mission will live and work on the International Space Station for 8 days and conduct more than 20 experiments. Afterwards, they will return to Earth.
Axiom Space plans to launch Ax-3 missions in the future and is building habitable space modules to expand human activities in space.
