As a developer, everyone knows that it is necessary to choose a programming language as your expertise, and choosing which programming language requires weighing various factors. Among various programming languages, golang has received more and more attention in recent years, but personally, I may not choose it as my expertise.
Why do you say that? First of all, I think golang's syntax is relatively redundant and not simple enough to write, which makes development efficiency relatively low. In comparison, other programming languages such as Python, Ruby, etc. are simpler and clearer, more in line with user-friendly design, easier for developers to get started, and easier to write. If time is of the essence, then I wouldn't choose golang.
Secondly, the golang community is not yet complete and mature enough. Compared with some other popular programming languages, golang’s tools and technical support are not that rich. When I need to find support and help, I think it will be easier for me to find answers in other communities, and there are many better and newer tools and techniques available in those communities.
Furthermore, I found that golang’s running speed cannot completely make up for its other shortcomings. Of course, as a developer, performance is critical, but I think it's more important to focus on user experience than pure speed. In some cases, I would rather write a slower application in another programming language if it was more prominent in improving the user experience.
Finally, although golang is a very promising programming language, in some cases, it is also very important to choose a popular programming language. When we collaborate with other developers or need to attract more developers, popular programming languages tend to attract better talent more easily.
In general, although golang has some excellent features, for me, my needs are more suitable for some other programming languages, which means that I will not choose golang as my expertise. Of course, this does not mean that golang is not an excellent programming language, but because I am more suitable for other programming languages and more valuable to other developers.
