Scheduling text messages using the Shortcuts app
Unfortunately, the built-in Messages app on iPhone does not support text message scheduling. The best way is to create an automation in the Shortcuts app to access this functionality. Make sure you have the latest iOS updates on your iPhone. Here are the steps:
- Launch the iPhone Shortcuts app on the Home screen.
- Click the Automation tab at the bottom of the Shortcuts app.
- If you have never used the Automation tab before, the Create Personal Automation button will appear. However, if you have used it before, you will see a " " sign in the upper right corner. Click the " " sign or the "Create Personal Automation" button.
- Click the "Time of Day" option on the new automation page.
- Select your preferred time of day by clicking the time icon on the Time page.
- If this is a recurring message, select the frequency from the Daily, Weekly, or Monthly options.
- If you select any of the above options, you will be given a further option to select a start date or dates.
- After selecting your frequency and time, click Next.
- Click Add action on the Actions page to see available apps and actions.
- Search in the search bar to send a message.
- Click to send the message, which will return to the operation page.
- On the Actions page, click the blue highlighted message text and enter your text.
- After you finish entering the text, click on the recipient and a pop-up window will be launched.
- Select message recipients and click Done to return to the Actions page.
- Click Done to confirm the new settings.
You will then be notified before the message is sent, you must confirm it and click Run to start the process.
