An original prototype Apple-1 computer owned by Steve Jobs is up for auction and is expected to sell for at least $500,000.
Apple-1 computers from 1976 are increasingly being circulated through auction houses, and sometimes it seems like the same computer is showing up over and over again. The Apple-1 computer up for auction is mostly functional and may be repairable, but it's not the latest model. 
#RR Auctions’ latest collection of Apple memorabilia includes a damaged Apple-1 for sale. It didn't come installed in the box and was labeled "Apple Computer A" and was still missing parts and had obvious cracks on the motherboard.
It is said to be an Apple 1 prototype owned by Steve Jobs, who used it to demonstrate the computer to Paul Terrell. Then came the owner of The Byte Shop, Terrell, who agreed to buy 50 Apple-1 computers as long as they were boxed and finished.
So this is the prototype that set Apple apart in its decades-long run of success.
