Apple Studio Display's power cord is detachable, but requires special tools
The Apple Studio Display is now officially available in stores and has already been purchased by multiple customers around the world. Unlike the Pro Display XDR, the Studio Display has a unique power connector that doesn't appear to be removable. It turns out that the cable is removable, but you'll need a special tool to remove it. 
According to Apple’s website, many users believe that the Studio Display’s power cord is not detachable. Fortunately, the cable detaches easily from the monitor, although it's difficult to remove with your bare hands.
Apple comes with a special tool for removing the power cord from its new Studio Display. Wrap the cable around the tool like a handle and the cord can be easily detached from the monitor. Unfortunately, this tool is an in-house tool designed and developed specifically for Apple technicians, so don't expect to be able to purchase it anywhere.
Using this tool at home may not be as effective, even if you have it. The Studio Display has a proprietary power connector, likely due to its slim design, so you also can't easily get a replacement cable from anywhere other than Apple. The good news beyond that is that Apple only needs to replace the cable rather than the entire display, which should reduce the cost of out-of-warranty repairs.
Apple didn't provide details on how much it will cost to repair the new Studio Display, but you can purchase it with a $149 AppleCare plan, which covers damage and gives you an extra year of coverage.
It's worth noting that some users have managed to unplug the power cord from the Apple Studio Display themselves, but this can cause damage to the product and you should avoid doing this.
