Will iOS 16 bridge the gap between iPhone and Android with this Apple Music feature?

Apple Music is my go-to streaming music service and I’ve tried them all. 85 reviews from a few months ago Spotify has its strengths, but due to its insistence on merging podcasts and music, it hasn't become a strong music streaming app. iOS 16 会通过这项 Apple Music 功能缩小 iPhone 和 Android 之间的差距吗?

But that being said, Spotify (and even the Apple Music app on Android) has one feature that Apple Music on iOS lacks: seamless playback.

Back in June 2020, Apple Music on Android added support for seamless playback... but the feature is still not found in Apple Music on iOS. The music app on macOS supports it, including Apple Music tracks and albums, but not Apple Music for iOS.

Why is seamless playback important? The way many albums are produced requires seamless playback. From The Beatles' Abbey Road to Coldplay's latest release The Music of the Spheres and countless titles over the years, seamless playback is a key feature for hearing an album the way the artist intended.

I went on a 9-hour road trip last weekend, and the lack of seamless playback from Apple Music on iOS was very noticeable and annoying, especially when listening to the Hamilton soundtrack. Between each song, there's a noticeable multi-second gap...even though the songs are all supposed to flow together.

One of the thoughts that came to mind while I was on this drive was how Adele could get Spotify to ditch the "shuffle" button in favor of a "play" button on the release of her latest album, 30. Adele explained in a tweet that artists create albums with tracklists in mind, and that Spotify's default shuffling of each album defeats that purpose.

We don’t create albums in our tracklists for no reason. Our art tells a story, and our stories should be heard as we intended them to be. Thanks for listening on Spotify.

To me, it seems like the artist should (maybe?) push Apple to add this feature behind the scenes. The lack of seamless playback support for Apple Music on iOS is a glaring omission that really detracts from the integrity of the album. Crossfade is also not supported

Now that WWDC 2022 is official, we know that the release of iOS 16 is only two months away. Hopefully seamless playback support for Apple Music is one of the new features.
