Home >Common Problem >Fix: Valorant Vgk.sys blue screen issue in Windows 11 and 10
Some FPS gamers have recently complained about a new bug in Valorant. These affected users will notice that when trying to play Valorant, Windows will crash with a blue screen of death issue and display the error code " Vgk.sys ". Don't worry, it's not a virus/PUP. This is a component of Riot's Vanguard AntiCheat system, which comes with the game. This is a simple case of lack of appropriate permissions for that particular system component.
You must allow all entities to have full control of the Vgk.sys component file.
1. You must access the location of the " Vgk.sys " file.
2.So you must press the Windows key and E key at the same time. This will open File Explorer.
3. Once open, follow the path -
C:\Program Files\Riot Vanguard
4. Here you will find the " vgc.sys " file. Just right-click on the file and click "Properties".
5. Just go to the "Security" tab.
6. Here you will notice several groups and usernames.
You must allow full control of all these groups. Therefore, you need to edit the current settings.
7. Click "Edit...".
8. In the permissions window for vgk.sys, select the first group from the list.
9. Then, just check the "Full Control" box.
#10. This gives you full control over all other user groups in the list.
11. After taking full control of all users, click "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes.
Now, just launch Valorant and check if it works. You can also restart your computer once and check.
NOTE -
Some users have noticed that uninstalling Riot Vanguard and then restarting the system before applying the above fix worked for them. You can also try this -
1. Press the Windows keys and R keys.
2. Next, enter “appwiz.cpl” and click “OK”.
#3. You will see the complete list of installed applications on this control panel screen.
4. Just find the " Riot Vanguard " application and right-click on it and click "Uninstall" to uninstall the application from your system .
After uninstalling, restart your computer and follow the steps we mentioned in Fix 1 to resolve the issue once and for all.
If you use an unknown third-party program (such as Aura Sync), Vanguard Anti-Cheat may block it and cause your system to crash.
1. You must access Task Manager.
2. So, press Windows key X keys simultaneously and click on "Task Manager" from the list of available options.
#3. When Task Manager opens, go to the "Startup" tab.
4. Look here for any third-party software that may interfere with Vanguard (such as Corsair Unity Engine, Aura Sync, etc.).
5. Simply right-click on the application and click "Disable" to disable the application.
This way, any unknown applications are disabled.
Afterwards, restart the computer. After restarting the system, try playing the game again.
Note – Users are also advised that CorsairVBusDriver.sys may also cause this issue. Find the file in your C drive and delete it from there. It might help.
Starting Valorant with administrative rights may resolve your issue.
1. Find the Valorant application on your desktop.
2. Then, right-click "Valorant" on the desktop and click "Run as administrator".
This allows the game to be launched with administrative rights.
Just check if this works for you. If this successfully launches the game, you can ensure that Valorant is only running with administrative rights.
1. Likewise, right-click on the " Valorant " application and click " Properties ".
2. On the Valorant Properties page, click the Compatibility pane.
4. Out of all the options, you just check the "Run as administrator" box.
5. Now you have to save your changes. So just click "Apply" and "OK".
Test if this helps you resolve the issue.
