A little-known feature built into iOS 14 and later lets you double- or triple-tap the back of your iPhone and have it perform certain tasks. This feature is called Back Tap. I tried it on my iPhone SE 1st Gen and it even works with my case.

Mine has been set up. I may have set it up and forgotten about it, but when I double-tap the back of the phone, the screen lowers and is easier to reach.

Scroll down and tap Back Tap

From here you can configure what you want your double or triple tap to do. You can also turn this feature off completely.
