HomeKit Alarm System Integration
I have been using the abode iota security system for over two years now and I am very excited about this product and how it integrates with HomeKit. Since most sensors are exposed in HomeKit, it's possible to create automations based on abode's door sensors or motion sensors. An example of how I use HomeKit integration is to have the backyard lights turn on for a few minutes when the back door is opened at night. We usually have dogs with us, so we only need to turn on the lights for a few minutes.

We have location-based rules set up in the abode app, but they are not always 100% accurate. For example, if CarPlay includes tiles for the HomeKit alarm system, users can change the status of home, away, and out of the driveway.
Door Lock Integration

Keeping in line with the HomeKit alarm system integration trend, I would also like to see CarPlay tiles for HomeKit compatible door locks. I use August Lock, but it also works great with Level Lock. I turned on August's location-based lock, but like HomeKit alerts, it wasn't always 100% accurate. Using the CarPlay tile, I can verify the status of the HomeKit door lock, and if the automatic unlock fails, I can manually open it.
Scene Control
With HomeKit Scenes, activate a light-filled room with just a tap. Additionally, CarPlay should add a way to display specific scenes near your home so you can turn on outdoor floodlights or entry lights when you get home.
Home Status for Siri
Finally, I’d like to see CarPlay offer “Home Status” notifications when you get home. It might look like this:

# “Welcome home, Bradley. Your alarm is off, your door is unlocked, and I turned on the entry light. Your ecobee thermostat reports the temperature in your home is 70 degrees and is currently heating to 71 degrees."
Summary
The more I use CarPlay with Intellidash, the more convinced I am that it should be further integrated with HomeKit. I use HomeKit every day, but I find that I use it most often when I get home or leave the house. So hopefully we'll see further HomeKit and CarPlay integration with iOS 16 later this year.
