Microsoft is constantly updating its Edge browser to add features and test new features through its Insider channel before its public rollout. Recently, we learned that the company was integrating Skype Meet Now directly into the browser, and now it appears to be developing a dedicated hub for Progressive Web Apps (PWA) as well.

As usual, this news tip comes to us via our trusty reader on Reddit, u/Leopeve64-2. Essentially, Microsoft is building what appears to be an App Center for PWAs so you can quickly access them. A screenshot of this implementation in Edge Canary can be seen above.

The Apps button edge in the multi-purpose bar can be enabled through the appearance settings in Microsoft. On launch, it will encourage you to install your sites as PWAs so you can quickly access them, as shown in the snippet above.

However, once you install the apps, you will see them grouped according to certain categories, as shown in the screenshot above. You can also change the view and sort the apps based on different filters.

It’s important to note that this change is currently only available in Edge Canary, so Microsoft may further refine the experience if it rolls out the feature generally. Even now, it's being rolled out in a controlled way, so not everyone on Edge Canary will see it. We don't have it on our current test machine, but for those who install their favorite websites as PWAs, a dedicated PWA hub might be a good option.
