Windows 365 Frontline will bring cloud PCs to remote workers, with support for LG TVs

Until now, Microsoft has offered access to cloud PCs through Windows 365 for large organizations whose employees primarily work in the office. However, the way people work, even in large enterprises, has changed over the past few years. More and more people are working from home or from multiple locations.

Today, Microsoft announced a solution to address the growing number of remote workers who may need access to cloud PCs. It's called Windows 365 Frontline, and it's available in a limited public preview now.

Microsoft says:

With Windows 365 Frontline, we’re introducing a simple and affordable way for organizations to extend the power and security of cloud PCs to shift workers . Windows 365 Frontline Cloud PC gives these workers access to their personalized Windows apps, settings, and data, helping them save time and be more productive, and empowering them to work from anywhere, on any device. It provides IT administrators with new capabilities to better support frontline employees.

Microsoft says companies that purchase a Windows 365 Frontline license can share it with up to three employees. This allows companies that hire remote workers at different times of the day to not have to pay for a license per employee. Companies can also add functionality to automatically log employees out of Windows 365 Frontline when their shift is complete, or log them out if they forget to clock out.

Microsoft is also adding more support for Windows 365 for more devices. Users can log into the service on Motorola's Android smartphones. What’s even more interesting is that they’re also available from LG’s 2023 smart TVs. These owners can work on these big screen TVs with the help of Bluetooth connected keyboard and mouse.

Companies interested in signing up for Windows 365 Frontline can sign up for the public preview. There's no word yet on when it will be generally available.
