New predictions about the upcoming iPhone “14” series have just been released. Apple plans to launch four iPhone models in the second half of the year, with major changes in available size and internal structure.
If you're a fan of the iPhone mini, there's bad news for you: Apple isn't planning to release another small iPhone. Your only options are the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, or the recently released iPhone SE3 (you can check out how it compares to the iPhone SE2 and iPhone 8 ). Instead of releasing a new mini iPhone, Apple reportedly wants to release a cheaper Max model with a bigger screen.
Here’s what the so-called iPhone “14” series looks like:
New cheaper Max models aren't the only curious news about the upcoming iPhone. Kuo claimed that Apple doesn't plan to equip the standard iPhone "14" models with newer processors. Instead, the company will leave them hanging on to the previous year's A15 chip. Only the Pro model will be upgraded to the better "A16" CPU.
Another upcoming hardware difference is RAM. While all four models will get 6 GB of RAM, the iPhone “14” and “14 Max” will use LPDDR4X chips. iPhone “14 Pro” and “14 Pro Max” will get faster and more efficient LPDDR5 RAM. The iPhone 13 and 13 mini currently use 4 GB RAM, with the Pro version offering 6 GB RAM.
All iPhone models in a single lineup offer the same chips and performance, with the main changes focused on RAM. Now it seems that Apple wants to increase the distinction between the "regular" and Pro models by giving the latter a better CPU. Of course, the chip shortage could be another reason for Apple to consider equipping cheaper iPhone "14" variants with an A15 CPU.
