Home >Common Problem >Tablet mode optimized taskbar added in last Windows 11 development build
Microsoft announced a new taskbar state specifically designed to make users feel more confident and comfortable when using their tablets.
When someone disconnects or collapses the keyboard on their 2-in-1 device, the taskbar will automatically transition to this optimized version.
Needless to say, this feature only works on devices that can be used as tablets, not laptops or desktop computers. Remember, this taskbar actually has two states, collapsed and expanded.
When in the folded state, the taskbar moves out of the way, providing more screen real estate and preventing accidental invocation of the taskbar when holding the tablet.
And, in the expanded state, the taskbar is optimized and easier to use by touch. You can easily switch between the two states by swiping up and down on the bottom of the device.
Microsoft is also testing some changes to Widgets to bring more dynamic content to the Widgets board.
This is done by trying to integrate the widget and news feed experience into a dynamic hybrid feed containing both widget and news content.
As a result, it should be easier for users to discover and interact with new widgets and news content through their feeds.
As you can see from the official release notes, there are also a lot of changes to emoji, File Explorer, Start Menu, Search, and other areas of the operating system.
