The losers in Epic Games’ massive feud with Apple (and, to a lesser extent, Google) have always been Fortnite players. But where there's a will, there's a way, and iPhone players in particular can rejoice: Fortnite is back as a touch-enabled mobile game. This is all thanks to the partnership between Epic Games and NVIDIA on the GeForce Now cloud gaming platform.

It's not exactly the same as having a local version, but in this case it's the next best option. The partnership was announced some time ago and has been being tested with selected players. It was a huge success, but today, the doors have been opened so all players can enjoy touch controls in Fortnite.

“The full launch, including removal of the waitlist, follows a successful beta period during which more than 500,000 participants transferred over 4 million to hundreds of mobile device types sessions."

#The beta period allowed the team to optimize screen controls and make the gaming experience native, and the results speak for themselves. I've been playing it for a short time before its official release, and there's nothing to indicate that you won't just be playing it on your phone. I've played more Fortnite on my iPhone than I'd like to admit when I first launched it, and the controls on GeForce Now feel very similar and responsive.

## It goes deeper than just hitting a few buttons on the screen. There are multiple modes to choose from, including auto-fire, so you just point and the game will fire for you. It makes Fortnite on GeForce Now accessible to all skill levels. You just click on the in-game menus and items just like in the native version. The acting is also outstanding. I'm on the RTX 3080 tier, Fortnite looks much better than the mobile version, and with a compatible Android device, 120 FPS streaming is possible on this tier.

Of course, Android players can get the game directly from Epic Games. But iPhone players will need to rely on the cloud, and NVIDIA is releasing this universal version after Microsoft recently added Fortnite to the Xbox cloud streaming library. The downside is that a good connection is required, and unless you're lucky enough to have a lot of fast mobile data, Fortnite on the bus still probably won't happen. But other than that, it's basically the same as the mobile version, and you don't need to have a paid account to play Fortnite on GeForce Now.

As an added bonus, those who played during the beta period will receive three days of priority access as a small thank you. For those who have paid, your account will receive three days of free access, extending your billing cycle to suit your needs. All beta players will receive further details, but can claim through the GeForce Now redemption portal.
