HomeBackend DevelopmentPHP TutorialHow to delete directory files using rmdir function in php

The function that php needs to use to delete a directory is rmdir. rmdir is a function that deletes a specified directory. It is a commonly used function. In this article, we will take a look at the specific usage of the rmdir function.

How to delete directory files using rmdir function in php

Let’s first look at the basic syntax of the rmdir function

Pass the directory name (path to the directory) as a parameter.

rmdir(目录名称);

If the directory cannot be deleted because no directory was specified, please note that an e_warning level error will occur.

In addition, if there are files or other directories in the directory specified in rmdir, the specified directory cannot be deleted in rmdir.

When performing this operation, you must empty the specified directory once and then use rmdir to delete the directory again.

How to use the rmdir function?

Let’s look at a specific example

mkdir('sample');
if (is_dir('sample')) {
    $files = array_diff(scandir('sample'), array('.','..'));
    if (empty($files)) {
        echo "删除目录:sample\n";
        rmdir('sample');
    }
}

In the sample program, first use the mkdir function to create the sample directory.

Before actually executing the rmdir function, you must check "the existence of the specified directory" and "whether the specified directory is empty."

Failure to do so may cause errors when executing the rmdir function.

Delete non-empty directories

If there are files or other directories in the directory specified in rmdir, the specified directory cannot be deleted in rmdir.

So, if you want to delete a non-empty directory, you must delete all other directories and files in the specified directory and then delete them again using the rmdir function.

Let’s look at a specific example

//
function remove_directory($dir) {
    $files = array_diff(scandir($dir), array('.','..'));
    foreach ($files as $file) {
//
        if (is_dir("$dir/$file")) {
//
            remove_directory("$dir/$file");
        } else {
//
            unlink("$dir/$file");
            echo "目录:" . $dir . "/" . $file . "删除\n";
        }
    }
//
    echo "目录:" . $dir . "删除\n";
    return rmdir($dir);
}
//
//
mkdir('test1');
mkdir('test1/test2');
touch('test1/test2/test3');
//
//
remove_directory('test1');

In the sample program, we first define a function named remove_directory.

This remove_directory function checks the contents of the specified directory. If there is no content, the specified directory will be deleted. If there is content, it will be processed according to the content changes.

In the third line, you will get the file group (another directory and file) in the specified directory, for each file group in lines 4 to 14, use the unlink function to delete the file if is a directory, please call the remove_directory function again.

Finally, on line 17, delete the specified directory that became empty using the rmdir function.

Create a non-empty directory on lines 20-23.

Line 26 uses the remove_directory function to delete a non-empty directory.

Select DependencyInjection (DI) for large applications, ServiceLocator is suitable for small projects or prototypes. 1) DI improves the testability and modularity of the code through constructor injection. 2) ServiceLocator obtains services through center registration, which is convenient but may lead to an increase in code coupling.

Dependency injection (DI) significantly improves the testability of PHP code by explicitly transitive dependencies. 1) DI decoupling classes and specific implementations make testing and maintenance more flexible. 2) Among the three types, the constructor injects explicit expression dependencies to keep the state consistent. 3) Use DI containers to manage complex dependencies to improve code quality and development efficiency.

mPDF

mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
