What are CSS3 selectors? Introduction to CSS3 selectors

Selector, to put it bluntly, is a way to select elements. We have discussed it in detail in the "What is a CSS Selector" section of the CSS introductory tutorial.

CSS3 adds many practical selectors on the basis of CSS2.1, making the way we operate HTML elements more flexible and convenient.

CSS3 adds 3 major categories of selectors:

(1) Attribute selector;

(2) Structural pseudo-class selector;

( 3) UI element state pseudo-class selector

For students who have just started using CSS, when they are exposed to so many selectors, they will naturally have a doubt in their hearts: Is it useful to learn these selectors? I can dominate the world by only using the id selector, class selector, and group selector. Why bother to learn so many selectors?

For this kind of thinking, I can only say one thing: superficial!

Compared with the id selector and class selector, these new selectors may have fewer opportunities to be used, but in actual development, they are very, very practical. Using these new CSS3 selectors can make it more convenient for us to operate elements, and can reduce the proliferation of ids and classes. Through the study of this chapter, everyone will slowly understand it, so don’t rush.
