Enterprise-class instances are the general name for a series of instance specification families launched by Alibaba Cloud in September 2016. They feature high performance, stable computing capabilities, and balanced network performance. Because they have exclusive and stable computing, storage, and network resources, these instance specification families are very suitable for enterprise scenarios that have high requirements for business stability.

Entry-level instances are a general term for a series of instance specifications (families) targeted at general small and medium-sized websites or individuals. Compared with enterprise-level instances, entry-level instances place more emphasis on sharing resource performance in terms of resource utilization, so they cannot guarantee the stability of instance computing performance, but the cost is relatively lower.

What is the essential difference between enterprise-level instances and entry-level instances?

Enterprise-level instances adopt fixed CPU scheduling mode. Each vCPU is bound to a physical CPU hyperthread, and there is no competition for CPU resources between instances. Instance computing performance is stable and has strict SLA guarantees.

Entry-level instances adopt non-bound CPU scheduling mode. Each vCPU will be randomly assigned to any idle CPU hyperthread. Different instance vCPUs will compete for physical CPU resources, causing unstable computing performance fluctuations under high load. There is an availability SLA guarantee, but no performance SLA guarantee.
