Release instance

To save costs, if you no longer need a pay-as-you-go instance, you should release the instance as soon as possible.

For pay-as-you-go instances, if you have not enabled the pay-as-you-go instance to stop charging, the stopped instance will still be billed, and billing will only stop after it is released.

For prepaid instances, the instance will be automatically released after the billing cycle expires. Before the instance expires, you can only apply for a refund to release the instance early.

Currently, you can choose any of the following methods to release instances:

Immediate release: Pay-as-you-go instances are released immediately.

Timed release: Enable the automatic release function and set the time for automatic release of instances. It can only be scheduled to be released automatically after 30 minutes at the earliest, and the time is accurate to the minute. Each setting will overwrite the previous setting.

Description

Data cannot be recovered after release. It is recommended that you create a snapshot to back up your data before releasing.

Release immediately

Follow the following steps to release the instance immediately.

Log in to the ECS management console.

In the left navigation bar, click Instances.

Select a region.

Set up release:

If you want to release a single instance: Find the instance that needs to be released, and in the Action column, select More > Release Settings.

If you want to release multiple instances: Filter the pay-as-you-go instances based on the payment method, select the multiple instances that need to be released, and click Release Settings below the list.

In the pop-up window, select Release immediately.

Click Next and click Confirm.

Enter the mobile phone verification code you received and click Confirm.

Enable automatic release

Follow the following steps to enable automatic release:

Log in to the ECS management console.

In the left navigation bar, click Instances.

Select a region.

Set up release:

If you want to release a single instance: Find the instance that needs to be released, and in the Action column, select More > Release Settings.

If you want to release multiple instances: Filter the pay-as-you-go instances based on the payment method, select the multiple instances that need to be released, and click Release Settings below the list.

In the pop-up window, select Scheduled release.

Turn on the automatic release switch and set the release date and time. You can only set the instance to automatically release after 30 minutes at the earliest.
