HomeWeb Front-endJS TutorialHow to use Nodejs to build a server to access static resource files such as html, css, and JS

This article mainly introduces the relevant knowledge of using Nodejs to build a server to access static resource files such as html, css, and JS. Has very good reference value. Let’s take a look with the editor below

In order to test the function of a nearby store, you need to configure the server for testing. I originally planned to use apache, but then I thought that I was doing front-end work. I haven’t used Nodejs for a long time, so why not use the knowledge I learned to configure it myself?

The first step is, as the saying goes, if you want to do your job well, you must first sharpen your tools. Since you want to use node express to configure the server, if you don't have it on your computer, you naturally need to install these two big treasures first.

1. Install node. Just go to the Node official website to download and install it, just go to the next step and you're done.

2.npm initialize the project. Open the terminal and enter npm init -y. Note: If you do not enter -y, you need to write some configurations yourself. If -y is entered, a package.json file will be directly generated by default.

3. Install Express. Enter npm i S express in the terminal and press Enter

The second step is to write the Express configuration file. Create a new app.js file (the file name can be arbitrary, but do not use keywords)

var express = require('express');
var path = require('path');
var app = express();

app.use(express.static(path.join(__dirname, 'public')));

app.listen(4444, function() {
console.log('App listening at port 8080;');
});

The most important part is app .use(express.static(path.join(__dirname, 'public'))) , this line of code is to add middleware in express, set the static resource path to public, and all HTML, CSS, JS and other files are Just put it under public

The third step is to add the test page in the public folder. What I am writing here is a page named changeColor.html. When it is displayed on the mobile phone, the mobile phone screen changes horizontally and vertically, and the body displays different background colors.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>testExpress</title>
<style type="text/css">
body{background-color: yellow;}
@media screen and (orientation:landscape){
 body{background-color: orange;}
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

The fourth step is to start the service after adding it.

I am using sublime here. Press two ctrl r. If the console outputs App listening at port 4444;, it means the service is started successfully. Open the browser and enter: http://localhost/4444/changeColor.html

in the address bar to view the test web page. If you replace localhost with the IP of your machine, the replaced address can be displayed on your mobile phone.

Javascript Data Types : Is there any difference between Browser and NodeJs?Javascript Data Types : Is there any difference between Browser and NodeJs?May 14, 2025 am 12:15 AM

JavaScript core data types are consistent in browsers and Node.js, but are handled differently from the extra types. 1) The global object is window in the browser and global in Node.js. 2) Node.js' unique Buffer object, used to process binary data. 3) There are also differences in performance and time processing, and the code needs to be adjusted according to the environment.

Python vs. JavaScript: A Comparative Analysis for DevelopersPython vs. JavaScript: A Comparative Analysis for DevelopersMay 09, 2025 am 12:22 AM

The main difference between Python and JavaScript is the type system and application scenarios. 1. Python uses dynamic types, suitable for scientific computing and data analysis. 2. JavaScript adopts weak types and is widely used in front-end and full-stack development. The two have their own advantages in asynchronous programming and performance optimization, and should be decided according to project requirements when choosing.

Python vs. JavaScript: Choosing the Right Tool for the JobPython vs. JavaScript: Choosing the Right Tool for the JobMay 08, 2025 am 12:10 AM

Whether to choose Python or JavaScript depends on the project type: 1) Choose Python for data science and automation tasks; 2) Choose JavaScript for front-end and full-stack development. Python is favored for its powerful library in data processing and automation, while JavaScript is indispensable for its advantages in web interaction and full-stack development.

Python and JavaScript: Understanding the Strengths of EachPython and JavaScript: Understanding the Strengths of EachMay 06, 2025 am 12:15 AM

Python and JavaScript each have their own advantages, and the choice depends on project needs and personal preferences. 1. Python is easy to learn, with concise syntax, suitable for data science and back-end development, but has a slow execution speed. 2. JavaScript is everywhere in front-end development and has strong asynchronous programming capabilities. Node.js makes it suitable for full-stack development, but the syntax may be complex and error-prone.
