　The indexOf() method can return the position where a specified string value first appears in the string. If the string value to be retrieved does not appear, the method returns -1.

　The lastIndexOf() method can return the last occurrence position of a specified string value, searching from back to front at the specified position in a string. If the string value to be retrieved does not appear, the method returns -1.
