In the months following the release of CodeIgniter version 2.1.0, our development focus has shifted to the development of version 3.0 (the "develop" branch on GitHub). It's going great, now we have unit tests, a PDO driver, an enhanced Query Builder (no longer called Active Record), performance optimizations and various other new features.

Although the release of the stable version 3.0.0 is still several months away, we decided to first release a CodeIgniter 2.1.1 version that fixes some bugs and adjusts functions. Although version 2.1.1 will not bring you any surprises, it means that we can use a more stable CodeIgniter.
