iOS 18 is Compatible with These iPhone Models

iOS 18 for iPhone introduces a plethora of exciting new features, ranging from revamped Dark Mode icons and widgets to color-themed icons and widgets, a customizable Control Center, Apple Intelligence AI capabilities for drafting emails and texts, data summarization, image generation, a revamped yet somewhat perplexing Photos app, Game Mode for iPhone, iPhone Mirroring for use with Macs running macOS Sequoia, RCS messaging support, and numerous updates to apps such as Safari, Notes, Messages, Mail, and more.

To enjoy iOS 18 on your iPhone, you need a compatible model. However, even if your iPhone is compatible with iOS 18, not all features, especially the Apple Intelligence AI, will be available due to more stringent system requirements.

However, just because your iPhone supports iOS 18 doesn't mean it will be compatible with Apple Intelligence AI, the flagship feature of iOS 18. The requirements for Apple Intelligence AI are much more restrictive.

The support for Apple Intelligence AI features is highly restrictive. Many iPhone models currently sold as new by Apple do not support these features. The following models are compatible with Apple Intelligence AI:

My iPhone supports iOS 18 but not Apple Intelligence, how can I access AI features?

If your iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence AI but you're interested in generative AI features, you can use the ChatGPT app. This app is compatible with virtually all iPhones capable of running iOS 18. While ChatGPT offers AI functionalities through text prompts, it's not as deeply integrated into the system as Apple Intelligence AI. Given the strict requirements for Apple Intelligence, using third-party apps like ChatGPT is the best way to access AI features on older iPhone models.

What about iPhone Mirroring compatibility with Macs?

All iPhone models that support iOS 18 can utilize iPhone Mirroring, provided the Mac they are mirroring to is running macOS Sequoia.
