Gboard, Google's keyboard app, now offers Emojify, a fun feature that automatically suggests and adds emojis to your text messages. This Android-exclusive tool builds upon the already popular Emoji Kitchen, letting you spice up your conversations with ease.

Getting Started: At Least One Emoji is Key

Before Emojify can work its magic, you need to include at least one emoji in your message. There are several ways to do this:

• Suggestion Strip: As you type, Gboard suggests words and, relevantly, emojis. Choose a suggested emoji if it fits. (See image below.) Ensure "Emojis" is enabled under "Suggestions while typing" in Gboard settings.

• Emoji Fast-Access Row: Gboard may display a row of frequently used emojis above the keyboard. (See image below.) Enable "Emoji fast-access row" in settings if needed.

• Emoji Keyboard: Tap the emoji key (often next to the space bar) to access the full emoji keyboard, including Emoji Kitchen. If you can't find the key, long-press the comma key and select the emoji icon. (See image below.)

Using Emojify: Remix Your Message

Once you've added an emoji, the Emojify button (a circle with a magic wand) will appear in the suggestion strip. Tap it to see emoji suggestions for your text.

The button's appearance indicates the number of options: a partial circle means more layouts are available; a full circle indicates one or no additional options; no outline means you're back to your original text. More emojis in your message generally lead to more Emojify options.

Troubleshooting Emojify:

If Emojify isn't working, check your Gboard settings. The exact path varies by device (e.g., Settings -> System -> Languages & input -> On-screen keyboard -> Gboard on Pixel; Settings -> General management -> Gboard settings on Samsung). Navigate to "Emojis, Stickers & GIFs" and ensure "Emojis" is enabled for "Suggestions while typing," and "Show button to add multiple emojis" is toggled on.
