New York Times Strands game tips and answers (Sun, May 4, 2025)
Hello everyone! Here are tips, full letter words and answers for The New York Times Strands game Sunday, May 4.
How to play Strands games
The New York Times' Strands game is a variation of the classic text search game. You can find it on the New York Times website and the New York Times game app, along with games like Wordle and Connections (we also cover these games in Forbes Gaming's daily guide).
There will be a new Strands game every day. You will be given a 6x8 letter grid in the game. The goal is to find a set of words that have common ground and you will get a clue about the topic. When you find a topic word, it will be highlighted in blue.
You also need to find a special word called "full letter word" (spangram). It will tell you what these words have in common. The full letter word connects at least both sides of the board, but it may not start or end there. Although the subject word will not be a proper noun, full letter words can be a proper noun. When you find the full letter word, it will be highlighted in yellow.
Each letter is used only once in a subject word and full letter words. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and you can change directions in the middle of the word. If you are playing games on the touch screen, double-click the last letter to submit your guess.
If you find three valid words with at least four letters (not part of the subject), you will unlock the Prompt button. Clicking on it will highlight the letters that make up one of the topic words.
Note: You need to be alert. Sometimes you need to fill in the missing words in the phrase. On other days, the game may revolve around synonyms or homophones. The difficulty changes every day and the game creators sometimes try to surprise you.
