A whole new way to capture Pokémon on your phone! Google search engine is embedded with an unofficial Pokémon game, which can be played with just a Google account and a phone with Google search app installed. This article will guide you on how to capture 151 first-generation Pokémon on your phone.
Start catching Pokémon
You need a phone (Apple or Android) with Google apps installed and a Google account. (It is free to install Google apps and create Google accounts.) Currently, this game is only available for mobile phones and does not support Google desktop version.
After logging into your Google account, you can start capturing Pokémon! Simply search for the names of 151 first-generation Pokémons in the Google Search app on your phone (the full list is available below). It is recommended to capture in order, as you need to capture a certain number of Pokémons to obtain Masterballs, which are necessary to capture some legendary Pokémons including Super Dreams. More information about capturing the legendary Pokémon is detailed later.
Capture 151 first-generation Pokémon
Capturing 151 first-generation Pokémons is usually simple, just search for the name of Pokémon in the Google Search app on your phone, such as "Little Fire Dragon". For Pokémon with the same name as the real world vocabulary, such as "Multilateral Beast", you may need to search more specifically, such as "Multilateral Beast Pokémon".
After searching, a small elf ball will appear in the lower right corner of your screen. Click on it and you will see the capture animation and receive the message: "Gotcha! [Pokemon Name] was caught!" Every time you catch a Pokemon, you will return to the Google Pokemon Tracker, which will tell you how many Pokemon you have captured and prompt you to capture the next Pokemon.
Capture the legendary Pokémon
Like the ordinary Pokémon, the legendary Pokémon of the 151 Pokémons of the first generation - Frozen Bird, Lightning Bird, Flaming Bird, Super Dream and Dream - can also be captured to complete your Google Portal. Catching them is a bit tricky, though. They need to capture a certain number of Pokémons to unlock, so you can't jump right in and capture the legendary Pokémon right away. You need to capture the following number of Pokémon to unlock each legendary Pokémon:
- 5 Pokémon: Frozen Bird
- 20 Pokémon: Lightning Bird
- 50 Pokémon: Flame Bird
- 100 Pokémon: Super Dream
