In Assassin's Creed Shadows, eliminating targets is a core gameplay element. Players, using either Noae or Yasuke, navigate feudal Japan, tracking and assassinating enemies to progress various questlines. One such side quest is "The Twisted Tree," a multi-stage assassination contract focusing on the Takahashi Clan.
This seemingly straightforward contract expands as you progress, increasing the target count from three to seven.
Unlocking "The Twisted Tree"
To begin "The Twisted Tree," you must advance Noae's main storyline. The contract unlocks after eliminating three Shinbakufu members: Ido Yoshihiro, Wada Koretake, and Wakasa. Upon completion, the hunt for the Takahashi Clan commences.
Locating the Takahashi Clan
Similar to main assassination targets, locating the Takahashi Clan requires utilizing scouts or on-the-ground reconnaissance. Scouts are recommended for efficiency. The locations of each clan member are detailed below.
Takahashi Shiro
- Location: Nijo Palace in Kyoto (Southwestern section, near yellow banners).
Shiro is your first target. Eliminating him awards 2,000 exp and a level 12 katana. This unlocks three additional targets: Goro, Taro, and Ichi-Hime.
Takahashi Goro
- Location: Shokokuji Temple, near the Shokokuji Pagoda fast travel point (Northern Kyoto).
Find Goro at the base of the pagoda. Careful observation and stealth are key. Eliminating him yields an engraving, a level 12 katana (Raijin's Refusal), and 335 mon. This unlocks two more targets: Inoshichi and Saburo.
Takahashi Saburo & Taro
- Location: Western Kyoto (Southwest of the 'k' in Kyoto on the map).
Saburo and Taro are found together. Prioritize Saburo for a quicker elimination. Rewards for Taro include an engraving, a level 12 katana (Burden of Legacy), and an Insect Cage quest item. Saburo rewards an engraving, a level 14 katana (Saburo's Deference), and The Letter From Saburo's Body quest item.
Takahashi Ichi-Hime
- Location: Umenomiya Taisha Shrine (Western Kyoto).
Ichi-Hime is located on the western edge of the shrine. You can choose to spare or eliminate her. Rewards include an engraving, a level 14 bow (Daydreamer's Grip), and 305 mon.
Takahashi Inoshichi
- Location: West of Honnoji Temple (Southern Kyoto).
Inoshichi is found slightly west of the Honnoji Temple. Eliminating him unlocks the final target, Jiro.
Takahashi Jiro
- Location: Takahashi Estate (West of Honnoji Temple).
Jiro awaits at his father's estate. He is identifiable by his gold and brown armor.
Rewards for "The Twisted Tree"
Completing "The Twisted Tree" by eliminating Jiro awards an engraving, a level 13 katana, 305 mon, 2,000 exp, an additional 5,000 exp, and two more engravings.
