Google Drive Now Offers Video Transcripts and Captions

Google Drive users can now access transcripts for their uploaded videos. While caption generation was already available, this transcript feature significantly improves video searchability by allowing users to quickly locate specific content within a video.

Google Drive's compatibility with Snapdragon-powered PCs, including popular models like the Surface Laptop, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, and others, has been significantly enhanced. Following a beta release in December 2024, the native 64-bit ARM version of Google Drive is now generally available.

Google's announcement confirms the general availability of the ARM64-compiled Google Drive client for Snapdragon-powered Windows PCs. This release allows users to seamlessly sync and store files online, mirroring the functionality of the standard Windows version. Existing beta users will receive an automatic update to the stable version. The rollout, beginning March 24, 2025, will encompass both personal and Workspace accounts, with completion expected within 15 days.
