Dune: Awakening is an MMO that will drop you onto Arrakis, the desert planet on which most of the action in the first two movies has taken place. Don't go looking for Paul Atreides in your quest to survive everything and everyone the planet has to throw at you, though. Awakening takes place on an alternate timeline in which Atreides never existed, although most other elements from the Dune universe, including the Fremen, the Bene Gesserit, and Shai-Hulud, are all in the game.

Although Dune: Awakening will eventually be coming to consoles, the survival MMO only has a PC release date for now - May 20, 2025. If all you want is the standard edition of Dune: Awakening, then that's available right now on Steam for $49.99. If you pre-order that edition before release day, you won't just get the game. You also get the sunset dye that can be used to change the color of your armor, vehicles, and weapons. Unfortunately, the Muad'Dib terrarium is a small decoration that can be used to liven up your base, not a life-size one you can use to keep a sandworm as your pet.

If you opt for the deluxe edition ($69.99) or the ultimate edition ($89.99), then your pre-order bonuses will also include five days of early access, or a "head start" as the game's devs put it since you will be better prepared for what Arrakis has to throw at you when everyone who arrives on May 20. Both editions will include the season pass which gets you four DLCs, the first of which will unlock at launch.

The ultimate edition will naturally include quite a bit more than the other editions, such as the stillsuit Paul Atreides wears in 2021's Dune. That's right, even though Atreides doesn't exist in this alternate Dune, the stillsuit he wears does. Best not to think about it too much and just focus on it being a cool look and a way to flaunt that you bought the $90 version of the game.

Post-Launch Plans For Dune: Awakening

Even though Dune: Awakening will be a PC-only release on May 20, coming to consoles at a later, currently unrevealed date, this is not an early access launch. This is the full release of the game, whether it be on May 20 for those picking up the standard edition or May 15 if you've pre-ordered the deluxe or ultimate edition.
