Initiating the Kabukimono Quest
The Kabukimono quest is often one of the first side quests available, located in the Izumi Settsu province. To find it, navigate northwest across the water from Settsu to Amagasaki. Then, travel east to locate the quest marker just south of the Nishinomiya Shrine. Speaking with the quest-giving NPC will add the Kabukimono to your objective tracker.
Grave Dancer: Location and Assassination
Before tackling the Kabukimono, consider leveling up your assassination skills, as many are guarded by formidable Ronin. Prioritize skill upgrades that reduce enemy health bars to efficiently handle these encounters. The Grave Dancer is located in the Sumiyoshi Shrine, directly south of Osaka Castle or southeast of the Osaka Kakurega. Use observation mode to locate the Grave Dancer and his accompanying Ronin near a tree within the shrine.
Ember: Location and Assassination
Ember is situated near the Grave Dancer. Teleport to the Osaka Kakurega and head west. You'll find burnt buildings just before reaching the water. Ember and his Ronin are nearby. For a swift assassination, lure them near explosive barrels and detonate them with a Kunai.
Ghost General: Location and Assassination
The Ghost General is found on the western shore of Sakai city (southwest Settsu). He's located on a wooden pier with his Ronin. Due to the open location, utilizing smoke bombs can be advantageous.
Big Sueki: Location and Assassination
Big Sueki's difficulty depends on your assassination skill upgrades. He's heavily guarded by Ronin. Prioritize the ability to assassinate three-bar health enemies. He's found north of Amagasaki castle, past the water, in Muko Post Town.
Chief Cuckoo: Location and Assassination
Chief Cuckoo is located in the Katano Oil Trading area (southwest of Katano). He's surrounded by Ronin and smaller enemies. Eliminate the smaller enemies first, then use smoke bombs to deal with the Ronin before engaging Chief Cuckoo.
The Choice: Group or Separate Assassination?
After assassinating the first five Kabukimono, you'll leave a message at the Nishinomiya Shrine. You'll choose whether to hunt the remaining three together or separately. Grouping them significantly simplifies the quest.
Locating the Final Three Kabukimono (Grouped)
If grouped, the Corrupt Blade, Laughing Man, and Peacock are found together in a lumberyard near Takagi Otsuka Fort (southwest Harima). Follow the road south from Settsu, taking the second right path above the small islands. The lumberyard is to the right of the fort. Use stealth to assassinate these three. If you have unlocked Yasuke, you can engage them directly.
Locating the Final Three Kabukimono (Separate)
Corrupt Blade: Northeast of Takagi Otsuka Fort, in Habayama Camp. Expect numerous Ronin.
Laughing Man: North of Takagi Otsuka Fort, in Blackstone Cascades (north of Kitano Village Kakurega).
Peacock: On the Harima/Tamba border, along the road through Mount Kasagata.
Completing the quest rewards you with 2,000 XP, mastery points, rare/legendary gear, and an additional 5,000 XP upon completion.
