TikTok enhances user security with a new built-in Security Checkup tool. This dashboard helps users monitor their account's security status and provides step-by-step instructions to improve their settings.

Accessing TikTok's Security Checkup

To access the dashboard, navigate to your profile, tap Settings and privacy > Security and permissions. The Security Checkup will highlight completed and incomplete security settings, offering guidance on:

• Adding an email and/or phone number for account recovery.
• Enabling two-step verification.
• Setting up a passkey using biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, etc.).
• Reviewing and removing access from unauthorized or unused devices.

The Security Checkup also flags and logs "unusual account activity" for review.

This isn't unique to TikTok. Other platforms offer similar features. For instance, Instagram (via Meta) provides a Security Checkup accessible through your profile settings (three vertical lines), then Accounts Center > Password and Security > Security Checkup. This helps users strengthen passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and add account recovery information.

Google also offers a comparable dashboard displaying active login locations, connected apps and services, recent security events, login and recovery settings, and security improvement recommendations.
