The button that will put your Instagram feed in chronological order

For years, Instagram users have been eager to restore timeline sorting and now they can finally top the latest posts. However, there is a limitation: the setting to sort home pages in chronological order is temporary and cannot be saved permanently.

How to prioritize the latest Instagram posts

It is very easy to organize your feed in chronological order. On the home screen of the Instagram app, tap the Instagram logo in the upper left corner to open a drop-down menu with two options: Follow and Favorites. Click to follow to view the latest posts of your followers. It's that simple.

As we mentioned above, this change will not be saved permanently. If you close the app and reopen it, you will return to Instagram's algorithm feed. You can't view the story in this view, either, so it feels more like a subfeed. However, if you click on any icon at the bottom of the screen (Search, Reels, Stores, and Profile) and then return to the home page, it should still be sorted in chronological order. To return to the standard feed, click in the upper left corner to return to the arrow .

If you are using a web browser to access Instagram, this feature is not available. If you don't see these options on your mobile device, try updating your app. This feature was launched about a year ago, so installing the latest version should allow you to sort your feeds in chronological order. The workaround before the update is still working: Click anywhere you see to view older posts to view posts you might have missed.

How to set the time order of Instagram favorite feed

If you follow a lot of accounts, chronological Instagram feeds can become boring. Instagram head Adam Mosseri pointed out that most people can’t finish most of the feeds when announcing the change in January 2021. You can use the Favorites sort option to view only the latest posts for the selected account.

This is the second option in the drop-down drop-down menu for large Instagram Name on the home screen of the app, but unless you select a favorite account, selecting it will show an empty feed. Start by following the application's recommendations Add a favorite and then set your list on the next page using Search , Delete and Add features— —Instagram will not notify the other party when adding or deleting an account. Click to confirm that the collection is completed and you will see all posts for your selected account in chronological order.

Mosseri said in an article on the official Meta blog that account posts in the collection list will be starred and displayed in a higher position in the standard Instagram feed.

After creating a favorite list, there are several ways to manage it. If you are viewing the "Favorites" feed, click the star list icon in the upper right corner to add or delete an account. You can also click the star icon next to the Favorite Account post (wherever you see it), and then click Manage Favorites to enter the same screen. Or click on the three lines in the upper right corner of your profile page, and select Favorites . This is a great way to keep only the best posts on your brand new chronological Instagram feed.
