When browsing social media, you may encounter some memorable tweets, Facebook posts, or Instagram photos that you hope to view again in the future. Maybe it expresses a profound truth, or makes you laugh so hard that your stomach hurts - you don't want it to disappear in the constantly updated stream of information anyway. That's why you need to bookmark posts.
(Quick Note: If you want to save your self social media posts, you can do it too! Check out this guide.)
Twitter just launched a new feature to tag posts you want to view again in the future. The Bookmark update may be relatively new, but other social networks already offer similar post saving features. Here’s how to build a library of great social media content.
In the past, when Twitter users encountered tweets they wanted to save, they would “favorite” or “like” these posts. However, this operation is public: Others can see these tagged posts, which may inadvertently leave them with the impression that the user agrees or endorses the content of the tweet.
There is a better way now: bookmark. Bookmarking tweets is private, so only users can see tagged posts. This allows you to create a personal profile of tweets that you don't want to lose. On the date of publication, Twitter's bookmarks can only be used through the application and cannot be used through the website. But soon, this feature should appear everywhere.
On Twitter on Android, you can bookmark your tweet by clicking the Share button (three connected dots) below the tweet and selecting Add to Bookmark to add to your tweet . To re-view these saved tweets, click on the Twitter avatar in the upper left corner and select Bookmark . If you see a bookmark that you no longer want to keep, click the Share icon again and select Remove tweets from bookmarks to delete it from the list. Alternatively, delete all bookmarks at once by clicking the menu button (three vertical dots) in the upper right corner and selecting Clear all bookmarks
.The process on iOS is very similar. Click the Share button (up arrow in the box) below any tweet and select to bookmark . To scroll through your bookmarks, click on the Twitter avatar in the upper left corner and select Bookmark . You can delete tweets by clicking Share
again, but unlike Android, you cannot delete all tweets at once.On Facebook, you can bookmark any posts you encounter in your news feed. This allows you to save everything from photos to sponsored links privately, and no one will see what you choose to keep. Like Twitter, saved posts are associated with your account, not with a specific device, so you can access the same collection from your web browser and mobile apps.
On this social network website, just click on the post's menu button (three dots in the upper right corner) and select Save post . To view your favorite content, please click Save on the left side of the news feed - If you can't find this link, you may need to click to see more... to view Go to it. At the top of the Save screen, you can filter your list by type (such as image or video). To delete a saved post, click its menu button (three horizontal dots) and select Cancel Save .
You can also save posts in the Facebook app. If you have an Android version, click on the post's menu button (three horizontal dots in the upper right corner) and click Save post . To find all bookmarks, click the menu button of the main application (three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen) and select Save . To delete a post, hold your finger and select Cancel Save .
On Facebook for iOS, the process is almost exactly the same: click on the post's menu button (three horizontal dots in the upper right corner) and select Save post . After that, click the main Facebook menu button (three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the screen), and click Save to view your post. Any time you want to delete something from the list, click on the three dots on the side of the post and select Unsave .
Like other networks, Instagram also offers an internal bookmarking service that allows you to save friends’ posts to a long list or organize them into a collection. Like Twitter and Facebook, it's a private operation, so no one can know what you've saved.
On the website, you can add an image or video to your profile by clicking on the bookmark icon to the right of the post (which looks like the end of a stylized ribbon). To view saved posts, click on the Instagram username in the upper right corner of the screen and select Save . When you look at favorite posts on your Instagram site, you will see a long list arranged in anti-chronological order. However, if you are using a mobile app, you will get an additional feature: Save these posts to a specific collection that you can browse later.
Using Instagram for Android, click on the bookmark icon below the post, which is located to its right. In addition to favorite posts, you can also choose Save to collection to place the post into a specific album. Select one of your existing collections, or create a new collection by clicking the plus sign icon on the right. To scroll through your saved posts, click the Profile icon in the lower right corner, and then click the bookmark icon in the upper right corner (above the picture grid). You can view everything in the list by clicking the All tab, or view the different albums you created by opening the Collection tab.
On Instagram for iOS, you follow a similar process. Click the same bookmark icon – just below the photo or video – and click Save to collection (if you want to put the post into a specific album). Finally, click the Profile icon in the lower right corner, and then click the bookmark icon on the right to view your saved posts. Like Android, you can switch between the all and collection tabs.
On Android or iOS, you delete favorite images or videos the same way: open the saved post page, click on the thumbnail of the post, and then click on the bookmark icon.
If you find yourself in a collection of posts that contain links you want to read later, consider focusing these posts in one place: a third-party service like Pocket (for Android and iOS) or Instapaper (for Android) and iOS). These free tools will store selected articles from all over the internet until you have time to read them.
Pocket has more features, including the ability to retain videos, but Instapaper has a cleaner interface, which makes reading long articles easier. Once you select a tool and install it, you will see that the service appears as an option when you click the Share button of the application. In some cases you can share your post directly to Instapaper or Pocket, while in others you have to copy the URL you want and paste it manually into the later reading app.
In addition to these dedicated bookmarking apps, you can always use your browser's bookmarks. Every modern browser (including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge) allows you to save links and organize them into folders, ready to be called again. If you're in a hurry, just open a post and save its link as a browser bookmark. For users who log in to the same browser on their computers and mobile devices, you can also sync saved bookmarks across platforms.
For example, in Chrome, you can add new bookmarks by clicking the Favorite this page icon on the right side of the address bar. A small pop-up window will appear where you can add bookmarks to an existing folder or create a new folder. To bring up your bookmark, open the Chrome menu by clicking the icon at the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the window, and select Bookmark from the list. Bookmarking features of other popular web browsers are equally easy to access.
